About Fins Swim School

Fins swim school, based in the seaside town of Prestatyn, North Wales teaches swimming lessons for all ages in a fun, inclusive, safe, learning environment, with an emphasis on water safety and swimming skills for life. From Babies to adults and everything in between!

Teaching staff at Fins come from all walks of life, including ex-Fins swimmers! All staff are level 2 qualified with in-house training from our own STA swimming tutor. A number of staff have also undertaken additional certifications such as Autism Swim and further details about these can be found in our staff section above.

Fins swim School in North Wales aims to deliver fun, safe lessons for all ages from babies upwards.

Adult one to one swimming lessons are also available for anyone wishing to overcome a fear of swimming or if you are looking to improve your strokes, then we can help you with this also.

About Lesley, Fins Founder

Fins Swim School in North Wales was started in May 2007 by Lesley Wilde. Lesley is a World Masters Swimming Champion and World Record Holder with over 35 years of competitive swimming experience under her belt. She is still an active masters swimmer, training 3+ times a week with the local swimming club, so is well knowledged in all aspects of swimming laws. The picture is Lesley competing in Italy.

Swimming Lessons

Not JUST swimming lessons, inclusive lifesaving swimming lessons for all ages. Fun lessons for children aged 3 upwards. Up to 6 children per class. One to one lessons available.

Baby swimming – start them early in our gentle baby led parent/ baby swimming sessions for little ones from 8 weeks old.

We have our own dedicated online customer portal where parents can track their child's classes achievements as well as pay for upcoming classes. Once children are signed up for classes parents will have access via a link to register their own accounts.

Dee Banks lessons in Chester run on a Wednesday 4:45-7:15pm and Thursday 3:45–7:15pm. We currently only offer group lessons and private lessons at this pool.

Greenaccres lessons in Gronant for Prestatyn run weekday evenings for 1-1s only and weekend mornings, Saturday 8:30–10:00am and Sunday 9:00–10:00am where we have our group lessons. Our parent / baby swimming classes run on Sunday also.

Mermaids

If you've ever wanted to be a mermaid, then we are able to run Mermaid experiences and Mermaid parties where you will learn how to safely swim wearing the specialist fin and skin and dress up as a mermaid. Please note, this activity is NOT suitable for non or weak swimmers and all participants will be required to take a swim safety test before being allowed to put on a tail.

The instructors are all very enthusiastic, patient and encouraging without being too demanding. They work within the child’s abilities and confidence whilst gently pushing them forwards. The administration is excellent, the Covid regulations make for a safe environment and the whole system works perfectly.
